For years, people have called me looking for high-energy groove band that could fit in their living room or the corner of a small club and play for 3 hours. This need and my love for the legacy of the Hammond Organ Trio and musicians such as Jack McDuff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Soulive inspired me to form a Hammond organ trio. This format of guitar, organ, and drums excites me with both its lushness and it’s limitations. Much like the succinct form of haiku encourages you to express yourself in unconventional ways, the organ trio similarly inspires fresh musical ideas. We do, however, defy the tradition by using psychedelic effects and Moog synthesizer. We also perform our own compositions alongside the established soul jazz repertoire. The sound of the band is old and new, big and small, jazz and rock.
